A free event for everyone as part of the exhibition
‘Breaks, gaps, leaps – queer temporalities’
Tue 3.06.2025, 19:00h, QUEER MUSEUM VIENNA
Otto Wagner Areal, former “Direktion”, staircase 2, Mezzanine floor,
Baumgartner Höhe 1, 1140 Wien
A lecture with Charlie Wunn in co-operation with VIMÖ – Verein Intergeschlechtlicher Menschen Österreich
Tragic, voyeuristic, pathologising – these three words can be used to aptly describe the portrayal of intersex in art, culture and the media. However, this sweeping judgement falls short. In recent years in particular, there have been an increasing number of works that depict intersex people in a respectful way or that have even been created by intersex artists themselves. Would you like to get a brief overview of successful and less successful representations and learn a little more about intersexuality in the process? Then come along and join us on a journey into the abysses and magic moments of art, culture and media!
About the speaker:
Charlie Wunn has been working in activist contexts on the topic of intersex for several years, has been working for VIMÖ Vienna since 2022 and gives lectures and workshops on gender diversity.

We look forward to your visit!
