An event in German
Love and punishment: Josef Kohout, Franz Doms and Walter Arlen. Three young men from different social classes who have one thing in common: they love their own gender. Excerpts from their biographies are combined in a reading with poetry, police reports and the songs of a forgotten voice. An old man who survived and a young man whose life and loves came to an abrupt end meet in a story of persecution, loss, torture and death. Freely adapted from the first homosexual anthem, “Das lila Lied” (The Purple Song), we ask the question: were they really so “different from the others”?
