The heART of queer joy
4.6.2024 – 9.06.2024
Eröffnung: 4.6.2024, 17:00h
The photo exhibition “the heART of queer joy” by INSELMILIEU Reportage captures the feeling of queer joy in all its facets. It is an exploration of what often remains invisible. A visualisation of the proud or quiet moments that go hand in hand with it. Ten portraits by photographer Jana Mack, both full-body shots and close-ups, show the individual forms of expression of queer joy. The people portrayed are encouraged to explore and express their queer joy, be it through fabrics, objects or positioning in space. The question of what queer joy feels like and how it is shown is at the centre of the creative process. QR codes offer visitors the opportunity to listen to audio sequences from the INSELMILIEU reportage podcast, in which people from the LGBTQIA+ community talk about their positive queer attitude to life. Through the approachable, authentic representations of Queer Joy in the form of photographs and personal stories, visitors should be able to establish a deeper connection to the experiences and emotions of the queer community. By presenting different experiences of queer people, the exhibition aims to help highlight and recognise the often underrepresented aspects of queer joy.
